The Kosovo Assembly has mandated the state delegation, which will lead talks with Serbia.
Although the government had mandated it nearly two months earlier, Initiative Chairman Fatmir Limaj had refused to start work without receiving the blessings of MPs in the Assembly.
Therefore, Kosovo's deputy prime minister has been appointed to the head of the state delegation, along with the PSD's Shpend Ahmeti.
After today's vote, Limaj has said the Kosovo Assembly this week has done a fine job initially by voting the Kosovo Army and then the state delegation.
Limaj has said he feels honored that his several-month efforts and determination to have a broad consensus has nearly paid off. However, it says there is hope that other political forces will join this delegation as well.
Kosovo, according to Limaj, sent the clear message that the country is ready and wants to participate in dialogue as an independent state.
From now on Kosovo, Limaj says, will speak in full co-ordination.
Limaj has pledged that very soon they will return to the Parliament with platforms, and as the delegation's co-chairman will return transparency to this process and together permanently close open issues with Serbia.
The chairman of the Initiative has also discovered the goals with which Kosovo enters into dialogue.
“The goal is mutual recognition and UN membership and other international bodies”, Limaj has said at a news conference.
