The Pristina Foundation Court has condemned the procurement official in Kosovo's Hospital and University Clinical Service, Zenel Red, with 200 euros in fines, after on June 8th of this year, had filed journalist Bujar Vitija over the telephone for a text that had published at the “portal. Shneta”
The Kosovo Journalists' Association welcomes the relatively swift treatment of the threat to journalist Bujar Vitija by public official Zenel Red, but expresses concern for the minimum sentence pronounced on the threats.
“The AGK considers that symbolic minimum sentences reflect negatively on the environment of making journalism and encouraging attacks and threats against journalists”, the AGK's response reported.
The indictment, pronounced by Judge Anita Krasniqi Preaja, dates on November 8th, as it was made known to AGK by journalist Bujar Vitija, who accepted the document yesterday from the tribunal.
He has made it known that he was not invited to attend any court hearings. AGK seeks from judicial institutions to invite journalists to listen to their versions regarding their conflicts.
The Kosovo Journalists' association re-exemplifies demand to rule and justice institutions for treatment of journalists' priorities because of their mission in office of information and protection of public interest. The AGK also requires that attackers and journalists' threats receive deserved sentences, with the aim of preventing such acts and creating a safe environment of action for journalists.
