MPs Nikola Gruevski cannot suspend the mandate without 80 votes secured in the Assembly.
Macedonia's Parliament Speaker Talat Xhaferi says that for receiving Gruevski's mandate, the Assembly will vote after 6 months in the event its unreasonable absence is found.
The other option, according to him, that Gruevski's mandate with automatism is to unify the sentences for all the works for which it is condemned and that would total over 5 years in prison.
The combined “needs to have a decision on all sentences like 2 years, the next one and a half year, or four years, and when they are united in a general act with a five-year sentence and more, it creates the basic element for the force of the law to suspend the mandate. Possibly, but the possibilities are of other institutions and not of parliament”, Xhaferi said.
