The Vetevendosje movement has talked today about the serious state of the forests in Kosovo and the illegal groups that are cutting them down. They consider the situation alarming and that the Government, for 14 months, has done nothing to stop forest degradation. So they believe that no more can be expected from this government than the same should be changed.
According to the Vetevendosje Movement, the last decade represents the worst time in the history of forest degradation, and last year as they say, is the top of this degradation. Librun Aliu, at a media conference, has said they have been expecting changes at Ramush Haradinaj's arrival in the government.
I had the impression that there would be changes as Prime Minister Haradinaj's new government comes. Despite many reasons for not believing, I believed that there is sensitivity from the prime minister regarding our forests and mountains. He's a regular boxer and he never misses a steak, even when we all think he should be busy. At least at this point we have expected results. But his love for the mountains is not producing results. It's making the organized chain of saws and saws stronger than the state, the prime minister, or connected to them, because I can't believe that organized degradation of our forests and parks cannot stop”, MP Aliu said.
According to him, numerous scandals have overshadowed forest conditions, the ksp broadcasts.
The forest management system is overloaded with useless authorities and bureaucracy. Nobody controls, while creating paradise for organized cutters, and hell for the guards and little illegal cutters. The state manages to be strong with several small cutters, who have since grown the price of energy, and coal jams are not left on the other road. Today, we have numerous loggers, and numerous materials in court, but these are mostly for small cutters, and this has brought no effect. This is because the main perpetrators who are chained to saw saws are not vulnerable to the state”, he said.
He said the government must take measures, strengthen the control of cut in parks, and bring the industrial chain of degradation under control.
According to him, forest inspection authority should be centralised and clarified responsibility.
Aliu said the forest bill is not being brought to the Assembly, so Vetevendosje called for it to be finalised according to the needs and suggestions of specialists rather than interests.
According to the Vetevendosje Movement, the government and the prime minister had time, 14 months, to make changes, but took nothing. According to them, they can't expect much of them, and the best would be their departure.
