Thaci has said we are writing together today the twenty-eight anniversary of Germany's union.
Germany's “Union, in 1990, was combined with dramatic changes across Europe. On that day, except that the two Germanys joined, at the same time the foundations of a united Europe around the most stable values of Western civilisation” were laid, said President Thaci.
Without this huge change in Europe and the world, according to President Thaci, it would be unimaginable that Kosovo would become a free country and an independent state.
This year, we, too, celebrate the tenth anniversary of the state of Kosovo and of the bilateral relations between our two friendly states, between Kosovo and Germany. But we know very well that the friendship between our two peoples is much longer. We brag about the friendly relationships we've always had. We have been and will always be grateful for the unhurt political, diplomatic, economic and financial assistance that Germany has provided for Kosovo”, President Thaci has said.
The president has added that Germany has been a big house for hundreds of thousands of Kosovo Albanians in the worst years in Kosovo's history, and that they are today the best bridge connecting two states and our two peoples.
“Europe and today's world are far from the enthusiasm of 1990, when the unification of Germany and Europe took place. We are all facing trials that have been calculated to be once and for all. Kosovo and Germany are together in preserving and empowering the civil, political and economic values of the Euro-Atlantic world. In Kosovo, we face major decisions to ensure the long-term stability of the state of Kosovo and the well-being of our citizens. We rightly expect that we too will soon travel visa-free to Europe”, President Thaci has said.
The head of state has stressed the need needed to strengthen the rule of law in our country even more.
Kosovo Security Forces will soon receive their new mandate. Of course, we always have to remember that these forces have been made in partnership with the NATO Pact and so will always be. We want to make the historic agreement with Serbia, which should bring mutual recognition and full normalisation of relations between us as two neighbouring states. We accept nothing less than formal recognition from Serbia. Kosovo mutual recognition- Serbia clears the way for EU membership, for both countries”, President Thaci has said.
However, failure to reach agreement and lack of mutual recognition, according to President Thaci, implies status-quo and the continuation of the frozen conflict.
President Thaci has said that for the realisation of these important goals for our country, Kosovo knows it has the support of Germany's friendly state, the media communique says.
