It is still not clear how many people have been injured, whether there are those who have lost their lives, or what the attackers ' motives have been.
Police Commander Jason Lando has earlier canceled for residents to avoid the area around the synagogue.
“We are monitoring the situation. It is imperative that neighbors and communities around the Tree of Life stay in their homes. Don't get out of”, spokesman Jason Lando said.
Earlier, U.S. President Donald Trump had written in Titeter that he is following the situation in Pennsylvania, urging people to avoid the Squirrel Hill area.
Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf said the shots were “traged”.
