Special Court Prosecutor Comes to Kosovo for First Time

During the visit, he will, among other things, meet with the heads of international organisations, representatives of EU member states, Kosovo Justice Minister Abelard Tahiri, as well as with senior justice ministry officials.
Smith was selected for the specialised Prosecutor's post following a process organised by the European Union and was appointed to this post by EULEX Mission Chief Alexander Papadopoulos.
He began his task on September 11th.
Smith is an American prosecutor with experience in high-level political investigations and international criminal investigations.
He is the successor of the first specialised Prosecutor, David Schmidt, who was chief prosecutor of the Special Investigative Task Force, who issued the post at the end of March, after completing his mandate as an official of the United States Foreign Service.
The Specialised Prosecutor's Office is investigating alleged crimes in the 2011 Council of Europe Report on Human Co-operative Treatment and the illegal trafficking of human organs in Kosovo.
