Kosovo has been occupied by goods IN SERBIA increases import

Kosovo's market has been increasingly occupied by goods made in Serbia.

Kosovo, in addition to having the import of larger goods from Serbia, has also marked import hikes this year. The value of importing goods from Serbia from January 2018 to October 15th of this year is around 360m euros, mainly food industry and construction materials. Meanwhile, Kosovo has exported goods to this state worth no more than 23m euros.

Kosovo Customs spokesman Adriatic Stavileci stresses that if this trend continues, imports by the end of the year mark 5 per cent increase compared to last year.

Stavileci: Import Growing From Serbia 5 percent

Serbia's “has been years, we actually have the last 7-8 years that Serbia's products exceed nearly 300-400m euros in one year. We talk about goods that are regularly imported, until this trend of export imports from Serbia grows to 5% more annually. For example, at this point, at the moment we are from Serbia, we have imported 360m euros worth of products, and by the end of the year we expect the value of Serbian products to exceed 400 million, so it will pass last year, to be greater than last year”, he says.

The import of Serbia's products is very diverse, ranging from machinery to food industry. According to spokesperson Stavileci, they cannot be divided into separate products.

Stavileci: Food Industry and Construction Products Most Imported

I don't think there's a group of products that we can say is the one that leads, because Serbia has two very powerful industries, that's the food industry, that means a lot of these products come directly from Serbia to Kosovo. That's why they're both. Food is a product that is consumed fairly and often and therefore has a high value of”, he points out.

While other countries, which rank behind Serbia for import, are Germany with 299m euros and 374 thousand 314 euros. The third country is of which Kosovo imports goods is Turkey with 251m and 268 thousand and 185 euros, ranked behind it China with goods worth 233m and 328m and 289 euros. Italy with 162 million and 238 thousand and 609, Albania with 151 million and 894 thousand and 257, Macedonia with 128 million and 52 thousand and 868, and in the entire country Greece with 88 million and 474 thousand 619.

Meanwhile, the total import value for the first ten months of this year is over 2.5 billion euros, while the value of total exports is only 230m euros.

The country in which Kosovo exports mostly is Albania, where the trade balance goes up each year.

Official Mensure Cerkezi for Foreign Trade Statistics in the Kosovo Statistics Agency has told Kosovo that between January and August, Kosovo has exported 42 million and 333 thousand and 343 or 18.6 per cent more than the same period last year to Albania.

In Macedonia goods worth 28 million and 805 thousand, 360 or 12.6 more are exported from Kosovo than in the same period last year. Meanwhile, Kosovo's export to Serbia, in this period is 23m and 299 thousand and 210 euros.
