Greece's retired minister, Niko Kotzias, has allegedly financed with secret portal funds, media and journalists in Albania and Macedonia. On October 10th, information was published showing that secret expenses had been made at the Foreign Ministry.
According to a press release, the closed envelope transferred by the foreign ministry diplomat and opened to the House Office of Representatives contained three codes with a total of 1m euros.
The same sources report that the first code relates to the money channeled for media in Albania, the second financing for Skopje media, and other money was channeled to support Orthodox churches and Orthodox religion in general.
Money for media in Albania and Macedonia was given in order to publish positive news about Greece and to lobby with journalists or media leaders in behalf of Greek interests. However, deputy speakers of the House of Representatives who participated in the opening of <x0fit” stress that everything is extremely formal, as the information provided is general.
CNN Greek reports that a preliminary investigation into how the Ministry of Foreign Affairs secured secret funds has been conducted. The investigation has been entrusted with State Security to ascertain possible prosecution acts.
The order was issued following the publication in the electronic information press that the sealed envelope was held by the diplomatic official of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, it opened at the Parliament Speaker's office.
