Kosovo's Minister for European Integration, Gift Hoxha, who is on visit to Hungary, was hosted by Interior Minister Sandor Pinte. According to the media report, Minister Hoxha briefed the Hungarian minister on the achievements and challenges of the integration process, in particular about meeting the criteria for visa liberalisation, and at the same time called for support from him for this process at the Council of Ministers meeting.
The free movement would mark a very important moment for our citizens, the Czech Minister Hoxha, noting the extraordinary decrease in illegal migration in recent years, the successful information campaign about the rules for free movement in Schengen states, as well as for credit polls about the low percentage of youth migrations are factors that would influence decision-making by the ministers on the Council of Ministers.
Minister Pinter noted the importance of meeting criteria from the guide, but also the fact that Kosovo is the only country in Europe with the restriction of free movement. He assured Minister Hoxha that Hungary since the beginning of democracy was alongside Kosovo citizens, not only with recognition of independence, but also for integration into international organisations. Mr. Pinter reiterated that visa liberalisation for Kosovo citizens would only bring good not only for Kosovo and the region, but even wider, reconfirming the overall support from Hungary.
We have pledged, even worth it as the consensus pledge of our Republic, that our path without alternative is the integration path, Minister Hoxha stressed. At this stage of developments, the priority is visa liberalisation, she added, noting that the European Commission and Parliament have reconfirmed meeting Kosovo's criteria for liberalisation.
