Saudi Arabia's powerful prince Mohammed bin Salman vowed on Wednesday that the killers of Jamal Khashoggi would be brought to justice in his first public remarks since the murder of journalist “x1> global outrage.

Using a challenging tone, Prince Mohammed told international investors at a major conference in Riyadh that the killing of Khashogg at the Saudi consulate in Istanbul would not derail the path of royal reform.

His comments came hours after US President Donald Trump was quoted by the Wall Street Journal as saying that as the de facto ruler of Saudi Arabia, the crown prince bore the ultimate responsibility for the operation that led to Khashoggi's death.

“We will show the world that both governments (sudden and Turkish) are co-operating to punish every criminal, every criminal and finally justice will prevail”, Prince Mohammed told those present.

The world's leading oil exporter is under increased pressure for Khashogg's death, a columnist and one of the crown prince's most prominent critics, Muhamed bin Salman.

The crisis has strained Riyadh's ties with the West and led dozens of Western politicians, top world bankers and company leaders, towards boycotting the conference that opened Tuesday in Riyadh.

Saudi Arabia initially denied any involvement in Khashogg's disappearance after entering the consulate, but a Saudi official eventually attributed his death on October 2nd to a failed attempt to turn him into a kingdom. Turkey has dismissed Saudi efforts to blame fraudulent operations and urged the kingdom to bring to justice those responsible. /tch/
