“We and Kosovo have the shared interest of having an efficient and clean justice system here. Kosovo be our full partner in fighting organised crime. After the end of the EULEX mission, Kosovo has a good chance to testify that it is willing to take responsibility in fighting serious crimes and corruption”, British Ambassador to RTK said, during a debate on the need for Kosovo to develop a process of “fighting” in the justice system.
He has stressed that it is obvious that Kosovo needs to clean up the justice system. He has taken an example of his position as the ambassador of Great Britain for which verification procedures are conducted.
I, as a civil servant, must spend self in my service every five years. If we talk about Kosovo, it would be important to create a system that constantly ensures the integrity of the system. In addition to officials, family members are searched. I've heard every time in Kosovo that politicians are not rich, but their brothers have riches. For example, I'm also checked by my uncle's ass”, O'Connell said.
He has also talked about the nepotism problem in Kosovo, which he has said Great Britain is being analyzed to eliminate.
“The problem of nepotism is a problem everywhere in Kosovo, and that must be acknowledged as a problem and must be addressed. Through the memorandum with Kosovo institutions, we are making efforts to eliminate possible impacts in some high positions. But there are following several procedures where municipality recommendations paid by Great Britain are being ignored as a whole just to accept in the leadership positions people with the same opinion”, the British Ambassador said.
