The law envisions fines of up to 100,000 dollars old for anyone who trades energetic drinks to minor persons.
Parliament approved the law on energetic beverages in defence of minors' physical and mental health at Thursday's session.
Nutritionist Enceleda Ferrollar explains the damage caused by the use of energy beverages in a minor body.
They have sugar and stimulants that are harmful elements to the organism. The vast amount of caffeine causes trouble in teenagers with sleep and nervousness”, Ferrollar says.
In countries of the European Union, before an adolescent is sold or served alcoholic beverages, age is verified through an identity card. The same procedure will be followed for energy drinks and sugar-ridden drinks.
