Cohen told Finance Ministry officials during a closed session in Jerusalem that Israel was holding a close observation of the situation in Iran, not only from abroad but also from within the Islamic Republic.
“We have eyes and ears, even inside Iran”, he said, reports “Sputnik International” Transmission Periscope.
Commenting on the recent wave of anti-government protests in Iran that began on December 28th 2017, Cohen said he did not believe the riots were likely to break down the regime, he would be “very happy to see a social revolution” in Iran.

The Moscow chief acknowledged that Iran's economy has improved since the signing of the nuclear agreement with the US and other countries in 2015, but confirmed that it has not significantly influenced the lives of Iranian citizens and that they have therefore taken to the streets to protest unemployment, poverty and increased cost of living.
