Former diplomat Skender Hyseni has said there will be no closure of the conflict between Kosovo and Serbia without mutual recognition. While Kosovo and Serbia do not recognise each other as independent and sovereign states, problems between these two countries remain open conflict”, former Foreign Affairs Minister Skender Hyseni has indicated for Express.
These comments, Hyseni has made after statements by current Foreign Minister Behgjet Pacolli, who has said Serbia should not necessarily recognise the Republic of Kosovo.
In an interview for Italy's AgenziaNoova, Pacolli has spoken with Serbia.
Serbia should not necessarily recognise Kosovo's independence, but should not stop Pristina's journey to Europe”, Pacolli says.
“We recognise Serbia as an existing fact very important for peace and stability in the Balkans and we know that Belgrade can contribute a lot in this direction “and therefore” should accept the fact that Kosovo is an independent state“, he added.
Kosovo and Serbia continue dialogue in Brussels mediated by the EU. Before 1998, Kosovo was in Serbia's power until 2008 is independent State.
Serbian officials consistently deny the citizenship of Kosovo until in their constitution Kosovo is part of their territory.
Kosovo has so far recognised more than 100 states, including America, Britain, Germany and France. They keep not knowing Russia and China.
Kosovo is now in the final phase of the dialogue, which was interrupted the day when Civic Initiative leader Oliver Ivanov was killed. Serbian officials have warned that dialogue will not start until Ivanovic's murder is dawned. From this dialogue, mutual recognition of Kosovo is expected from Serbia.
