(8 years ago)Three families from the Dukagjini region, Zemaj, Tolaj and Haklaj, whose family members were killed early in the past decade under still unclear circumstances, have stated yesterday that they are shocked by the television testimony that Thursday evening delivered Shkumbi Mehmeti, a convict of involvement in a murder in the [...] circle.
Shkumbin Mehmeti has spoken at “Klan Kosova” for a criminal group, in which he said he was part of which he said he has hand in many post-war killings in Kosovo.
Among the murders Mehmet cited are those of Tahir Zemaj, Sebahate Tollaj and Isuf Haklaj, killed on two different occasions in the Pec district in 2003.
He has also said that the murder of Xhavit Halit, now deputy head of the Kosovo Assembly, was planned.
After these statements, he has demanded that justice institutions initiate investigations.
Xhavit Haliti, deputy head of the Kosovo Assembly, whose name was mentioned to have been on the list of liquidation, has stated to the newspaper “Zeri” that if Kosovo justice is not manipulated, then it will not have to overlook these statements.
If there are justice institutions, they should deal with this case. If there's a tarnished justice, they don't deal with it. The important thing is that it should light up all the cases and punish the culprits”, Haliti told “Voice”.
He has declared he did not know Mehmet before.
