Gjakovars seek to establish charges of war crimes against Stanojevic

Gjakovars ask the prosecution to establish the war crimes indictment of the former Serbian mayor of this municipality, Gjonica Stanojevic.

Representatives of civil society in Gjakova have deposited in the Constitutional Prosecution in this city the demand for a rise in the war crimes indictment against former Gjakova municipality chairman Gjonica Stanojevic.

In the letter civil society has handed over to chief prosecutor in Gjakova, Ali Selimaj said that on the basis of evidence they possess and on the basis of the Kosovo republic's penal code, Gjica Stanojevic must be brought up and tried for crimes committed against the civilian population in this municipality during 1998-1999.

“We also have evidence that the former mayor of the Gjakova municipality, Gjokica Stanojevic during the months of October-November 1998 and January February 1999 in Gjakova , has hosted the 200-strong Seheshel and Arkan group's paramilitary forces, as well as by Frankie of 30 people”.

Furthermore on paper, Gjica Stanojevic is said to have hosted and organised operational work together with Atanas Cocolanski, Zdravko Vintar and Goran Yeftovic.

In addition to establishing the indictment through civil society in Gjakova's letter, they have demanded that former President Gjokica Stanojevic be prevented from entering Gjakova until the end of judgment and deserved punishment. /Time/
