Gay Activist abandons Albania, says he has been threatened

An Albanian homosexual activist has fled to Great Britain to live, following the threats he had received in Albania. Erjon Tela has already started a new life in Surrey, a city in Great Britain. He tells local media there that he was forced to leave the country because he was threatened after [...]
The economy shows that in 2012, it helped organize Albania's first gay parade. He also cooperated with the police. The police were shouting at us all the time. They were forced to protect us, but they never wanted to do it“, he says, according to the TV. From 2014 to 2017, Erjon has trained police forces and students of a police academy in Albania.
The main police education for LGBT community people was that they are a small transgiar community, most of which are homeless, even people selling body”, Erjon relates.
Erjon Tella began to engage in Albania in 2010 by making graffs on the streets of Tirana. He wrote placards like “I'm a guy, I want a guy” and “I'm a girl, I want a girl”.
In 2013 he launched a project called “think politically”, co-operating with other organisations. He even organised a meeting between the Albanian prime minister and members of the LGBT community. Since the country aspires to EU membership, according to Erjon Albania has positive laws against discrimination, but the problem lies in the fact that they are not implemented.
