Vetevendosje official Boiken Abazi, who is Albanian citizen, has commented on hiding the monument of hero Gjergj Castillo in Tirana's main square during the prayer prayer of Bajrami. Ahaz too makes a list of those who criticized the hiding of a historical figure and those who justified it.
Abazi criticises those who argued that Islam is not allowed to forgive in front of the statues, for according to him, this rule could be respected at shrines or at homes of believers without interfering with the central symbols of the Albanian state.
This is Boyken Abbas' full status:
Although the philosophical, sociologist, and political debate on what is considered private life and public life continues, there is still a difference between the two. Regardless of which trust belong to Albanians, the Albanian state is a secular state, and the public of the Albanian state belongs to all equally, regardless of religion. The Albanian public is built, among other things, on the symbol of our national hero, Gjergj Kastriot Skenderbeu, so when it is covered in a public space it is understandable that misunderstandings can arise and that people feel hurt. On the other hand, the established argument that Islam religion does not allow forgiveness in front of various figures, photographs or statues is stable, and rightly a believer/e would have to respect this practice in the mosque or in the intimateness of his/her home, or in public spaces that enable the practice of religious ritual without interference in the central public symbols of the Albanian nation and state. The claim that religion justifys intervention (i.e. and provisional) in the visual aspect of Skenderbeu monument, whether in part, directly affects the symbol of the secular public of the Albanian state. No believer, whether Christian or Muslim, enjoys legitimacy or exclusiveness to intervene unilaterally over the public symbols of the Albanian secular state, justifying itself through his religious belief/her.
Today is a holiday for the entire Muslim community, and it must also be understood that a believer may feel hurt by this debate, much more when it is known that the Muslim community has often been targeted by many completely unjust and superficial prejudices. I associate and solidify with any believer who is attacked or analyzed today simply because of religion. Furthermore, I remain deeply convinced that the overwhelming majority of Muslim Albanians disagree with this confusion that took place at Skenderba Square in Tirana during the prayer of Kurban Bajrami's Namaz, but it is necessary for the Islamic Community to make this public clear and remove any suspicion that might leave space for malicious or hasty misinterpretation. I want to congratulate everyone on the Kurban Bajrami holiday, and I also wish to congratulate all clear minds on the analysis of these issues affecting our public and common.
