The local elections are held in 38 municipalities in all, while the censuses for these elections, as well as in past elections, are Kosovars living abroad.
The Central Election Commission has confirmed a large number of people who have applied for the race. While the application period to register as voters outside Kosovo is closed on August 23rd.
For about 40 days, citizens living outside Kosovo have been able to apply to be registered as voters outside Kosovo”, Central Election Commission spokesman Valmir Elezi has said of Indescsonline.
Twelve thousand registration applications have been accepted over this period.
“Most of these applications have come through one of the three emails of the Voter Service. Ten thousand and 476 apps have been approved, while another 11,000 and 337 have been rejected, said Elez.
Also, the Voters' Service has already confirmed all applicants, the approved and the refused, regarding the outcome of their application.
For all successful registered voters, the vote will be possible and will begin within days.
It should also be commemorated that during past elections or general ones in the country over 20,000 apps were accepted.
“During the period of voter registration application outside Kosovo for the Kosovo Pre-election Assembly held on 11 June 2017, 20,000 and 354 applications for registration have been accepted. Of them 15 thousand and 118 are registered as successful voters, while 5 thousand and 236 apps were rejected for various reasons (most of them had failed to meet the judicial criteria for involvement on the Voters List outside Kosovo), Elesi has concluded.
