Thaci's proposal to establish unity team for talks with Serbia rejected

President Hashim Thaci's warning of the establishment of a unity team for talks with the Serbian side in Brussels has been rejected by a part of the connoisseurs of political issues in Kosovo.

According to them, Thaci is trying to exaggerate his role.

Ramush Tahiri, says such an idea would not result in success because Kosovo has been a state for several years.

“I think that the phase of the unity team and the unity groups has passed, because Kosovo has been a state for several years and we have created state institutions that, in any other country and in us, are above the teams of unity for the fact that the ministries work on the basis of constitution and laws and have the most advanced solutions for any direction the ministries cover, and I see no reason for us in international relations to come up with any other concept than the concept of the state of Kosovo, which is internationally accepted”, said Tahiri in a conversation for the Index.

According to him, Serbia does not care about the form of presentation except for the agreements reached.

“As for political parties to give the impression that we are all together, there is a logic that means a unity with ourselves, but as for Serbia that sʹ interests nothing in what form is represented but what agreements are reached”, he stressed.

On the other hand, Bajrush Morina says that such an idea is an attempt to enlarge the presidential role over the country's institutions.

“The team of Unity is an attempt by Hashim Thaci to bypass the country's institutions and enhance his presidential role over the country's institutions. The Unity Team is not needed for talks with Serbia. This team has made sense for Kosovo status talks. Now when Kosovo is independent, each other team is impossible, unreasonable and useless to the country. After all, the deadlock of talks with Serbia has entered the first Hashim Thaci”, Morina has declared for Indexline.

Morina considers that the talks are already in a <x0-tunnel” full of darkness, so Thaci is asking for help.

Otherwise, President Thaci has pledged to work on building the unity team with representatives from political parties, civil society in order to be well prepared and united.
