Switzerland is ready to become a mediator between North Korea and the US over the crisis on the Korean peninsula, President Doris Leuthard was quoted as saying, Reuters.
“We are ready to offer our role as mediator”, Leuthard said at a press conference. It's time to sit on a table. Great powers are responsible for”.
Swiss troops settled in the demarcation zone between South and North Korea [after the 1950-1953 Korean War], Leuthard said, adding that Switzerland had a long history of neutral diplomacy.
The US and China are also responsible for handling the Korean crisis, she stressed.
“We need to find out where the foreign ministers (North and United States) can meet, Leuthard has said.
