Spain sends more police to Catalonia to block the referendum.
Spain's Interior Ministry said on Friday that it was sending more police to Catalonia to maintain order and ensure that a referendum for independence does not occur, Russia Today” reported, Periscopi broadcasts.
Catalonia, which wants to hold a vote on October 1st to secede from Spain, has its own police named Mossos d'Esquadraı, although State Police Guardia Civil possibly have neighborhoods throughout the region and often worked with them.
Spanish media said 3,000 and 4,000 people had come or were on their way.
They would join about 5,000 normally deployed state police officers in Catalunia, and about 17,000 officers will act as a reserve which will lead the mission, the ministry said./Periscopi/
