Officials from South Korea claimed they are strengthening the US-backed missile defence system after testing the nuclear bomb North Korea had made at the weekend we left behind, “reported. BBC”, report Periscope.
South Korea has conducted direct military training in response to the test.
The US has warned that any threats to itself or its allies will follow with a <x0 mass military reaction” against North Korea.
The North says it has tested a hydrogen bomb that can fit into a long-range missile.
Pyongyang has repeatedly challenged UN sanctions and international pressure by developing nuclear weapons.
During the past two months, North Korea has conducted tests of interccstine ballistic missiles, sending one over Japan's territory to the Pacific Ocean.
It has also threatened to launch missiles towards the Pacific area in Guam.
The UN Security Council will hold an emergency meeting Monday to discuss the matter.
Ahead of this meeting, South Korea and Japanese leaders had agreed to promote a UN resolution on North Korea, a spokesman for the South Korean Presidential Palace said.
The Security Council imposed sanctions in August this year, blocking North Korea's exports.
Chang Kyung-soo, a defence ministry official, told parliament: “We have also seen signs of possible ballistic missile concessions, but we also suspect that North Korea is ready to launch an interctinctating missile”./Periscopi/
