In the first speech before about 130 presidents and prime ministers present under the General Assembly, the UN chief underlined that the solution with jinn should be political and that we should not be plunged into war.
“I ask the Security Council to preserve its unity in the crisis with this country”, Antonio Guterres added, formally opening the annual United Nations General Assembly to assemble 193 states in New York.
“Unity alone will enable the deregulation of the Korean Peninsula and the establishment of the opportunity for a diplomatic commitment to the resolution of crisis”, he stressed.
While North Korea has doubled nuclear experiments and the launch of ballistic missiles, the Security Council has since added resolutions to European economic sanctions.
US President Donald Trump has not shown so far that he really believes in the process of sanctions to push North Korea to a negotiating table. He has repeated several times the possibility of using force to defeat the jinn.
“More widely, all countries must show greater commitment towards the universal goal of a world without nuclear weapons”, Antonio Guterres indicated.
“The states that possess nuclear weapons have a huge responsibility to direct this” movement, he stressed, voicing regret that the spread of nuclear weapons creates an unimaginable danger.
Tomorrow, the first states will begin signing nuclear weapons to the UN. More than 120 countries have approved this treaty at the beginning of the summer, envisioning the re-forging of nuclear weapons.
This initiative has been rejected by countries equipped with nuclear weapons, and especially by the five permanent members of the Security Council ( US, Russia, Great Britain, France and China.
