The Democratic League of Kosovo today opened the campaign before the October 22nd municipal elections. But at this event, held in the Hall of October 1st in Pristina, no members of the Rugova family were present, not even the MP who entered the Assembly through the LDK list, Teuta Rugova.
As the LDK's youth held banners with the slogan '%s' for each municipality, the chairman of this party, Isa Mustafa, mentioned the names of the LDK's candidates through Kosovo municipalities, saying the LDK would hold the municipalities where it is in power and win where it could not in the last elections.
Meanwhile, the family of the symbol of this party, former President Ibrahim Rugova, was not present at the opening of the campaign.
Division between LDK) and MP Teuta Rugova had started at the time when the country was without Government and the coalition The PDK AAK AAK initiative was seeking deputies to garner 61 votes to form Government. For that very time, Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj's nominated former prime minister, had met the Rugova family in their home in Pristina's Velana neighbourhood, writes the Metro newspaper.
After the meeting, Haradinaj had said he had received Rugova's support for his government. At the following session, Teuta Rugova had acted differently from her colleagues from the LDK, voting in favour of a PANU proposal for the extension of the session.
Later, Mustafa had said that Teuta Rugova's vote would be according to the LDK's will, but at the session where the government was formed, Teuta Rugova was absent. Ibrahim Rugova's daughter lies in her second term as Parliament deputy, but her number of votes has dropped dramatically compared to the elections of v2014.
