Below, you can follow her account of what happened to her country as well as what happened to her relatives by the violent death done to them by the army of the state of Myanmar, Alzeera” reported.
Arba Khatun 50 comes from the state of Rakhine, Myanmar, which issued her country last week.
My name is Arba Khatun and I am 50 years old. Before the crisis we lived a very good life: We had domestic animals, we had a farm, we cultivated many different cultures like rice and coconut. My husband died 15 years ago, so I lived with my son and my husband's family. When I was younger, I enjoyed working on the farm, but now I am old, so my son did the biggest job.
I don't remember that day, but I just woke up and I was cleaning my face when the army came to our farm and stole our animals. That was when they fired a gun and a bullet hit my stomach. Fortunately, she did not become too deep, but she was very painful and I was bleeding so that my son took me to a close doctor.
When we returned, the whole village was burned. My son took me to the mountain, we found his family.
In the mountains we slept for three days, then we headed for Bangladesh. We couldn't take anything with us because my son was carrying me and his wife was carrying their two children. It was a difficult trip and it took 12 days to get to Bangladesh. We heard there were some border problems, but we easily passed.
I'm happy to be in Bangladesh because we're safe here. My wound is healing, so it's going a lot further now. But we have nothing to eat, and we have not received any support, we are very hungry.
My son would want the world to help us get our country back, but I don't want to go back there, we'll never be safe in Myanmar, we have to do the best we can here in Bangladesh”./Periscopi/
