On Sunday, Iraq has executed 42 Sunni Muslim militants convicted of terrorism by the killing of members of security forces to the launch of bomb cars.
The largest mass execution this year in Iraq came after the suicide attacks of the sanitists, who killed at least 60 people near the southern town of Nasssiriya, an area this Shiite, on September 14th, boosting Shiite demands for tougher judicial action, Reuters reports.
Amnesty International has criticised the move, saying Monday that “mass execution is a shocking demonstration of Iraqi authorities' means of the death penalty in an effort to show they are responding to security threats”.
The death penalty is an irreversible and punishable sentence that should not be used under any circumstances, and there is no evidence showing that this punishment disorients crime more than any other punitive tool”, Amnesty said in a report, broadcast Time.net.
The justice ministry has said on Saturday that 42 convicts were hung in a prison in Nassariya, three months after 14 other militants were executed after the terrorism sentences.
