Current Chancellor Angela Merkel has entered the race to win the fourth consecutive mandate, while good results in these elections are expected even radical right.
In 299 voting units, 598 MPs will be elected, while voters will similarly elect MPs from their regions on open lists as well as vote for the favourite political parties.
Some 650 thousand people in 73,500 countries have been engaged in the 19th federal elections in Germany.
A total of 4,828 candidates participate in the election race.
