The European Union's foreign policy chief, Federica Moghrini, and the bloc's enlargement commissioner, Johannes Hahn, met the leaders of the six Western Balkan countries in the margins of the UN General Assembly in New York.
“Reconfirmed the EU's clear support for the prospect of enlargement with the Western Balkans, as said late at the European Council level, even from European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker, in his annual speech”.
“In line with this commitment, the European Union is increasing its support to all partners, towards reachable and realistic goals, so that their progress will be irreversible by the end of our” mandate, Moghrin and Hahn said through a joint statement.
“We are pleased that Montenegro's President Filip Vujanovic, Serbia's president, Aleksandar Vuciq, Kosovo President Hashim Thaci, Bosnian Presidency Chairman Dragan Covovic, Serbia's prime minister, Edi Rama, and former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia Prime Minister Zoran Zaev have confirmed their commitment to the realisation of reforms, especially in justice, rule of law and fundamental rights, as well as to reinforce regional co-operation and good neighbourly relations <18x> said Mogher and Hahn.
