Believers have been pardoned in the early morning hours for the first time in the new square. For years performing religious rites of the Muslim community has been a problem for believers, lacking sufficient space.
This time, believers have been able to be in the capital's main square. But, as Our Time conveys, what appeared to be the banner cover of the National Hero monument George Kastriot Skenderbeu.
A large banner, placed on a severalm-high wharf, wished believers for Kurban Bajrami covered the entire facade of our national hero's monument.
This coverage of the National Hero has brought numerous reactions to social networks. Respecting the right of all religious beliefs to organise the ceremony, citizens express indignation at covering a national symbol.
Despite religious beliefs, Skenderbeu has been accepted as the hero of the entire nation.
Despite religious beliefs, Skenderbeu has been accepted as the hero of the entire nation. Such a gesture takes place at the time when Prime Minister Edi Rama's new government, 2018, declared the “Year of Skenderbeu”.
Interestingly, while the government recognises it as a national figure, today in the face of such a gesture, where the symbol of Albanians hides has no institutional response.
Without wanting to touch any sensitivity on this holy day of Muslims, all have the right to celebrate according to religious beliefs, but all must also respect national symbols. It is not only a moral issue but also a legal obligation.
