People massly abandon their countries when their situation becomes difficult because of the economic crisis and the threat of their lives, as is the case of Syria that has been destroyed by war.
People are leaving Puerto Rico massively because of the multi-year recession and large percentage of unemployment. As for Lithuania, this country has registered a large number of citizens who have fled to Great Britain.
Top of this list is Andorra, whose population has been reduced to almost one fifth over the past ten years. According to World Bank data, the number of residents in Andorra has decreased by 15 thousand between 2009 and 2015, while during 2015 alone has been reduced to 3.2 percent.
In second place, Puerto Rico, who two years ago has suffered a decline in the number of residents for about 1.7 percent, and war - affected Syria has been positioned after that, it broadcast Telegraphy.
Kosovo and Lithuania have had a decrease in the number of residents from 1.1 per cent to 0.9 per cent, while Croatia has placed sixth with a drop of 1.8 per cent.
According to the World Economic Forum, Eastern European and former Soviet Union countries are the countries with the biggest population decline due to the low level of nighthood and migration caused by economic problems.
However, Syria is also on the list, which has almost been destroyed entirely by five - year - old war.
The stalemate also has Kosovo, like the newest state, which is constantly having problems with its neighbour Serbia, which has not recognised this country's independence.
