Angela Dorothea Cassner was born on July 17, 1954, in Hamburg, West Germany. His studies were conducted at Leipzig University from 1973 to 1978.
Shortly before completing college studies, Merkel wanted to be an assistant professor at an engineering school. As a condition for taking office, Chancellor Merkel was asked to agree to report her colleagues to the Democratic Germany secret police. Merkel had refused, using the reasoning that she could not keep the secret of being a worthy spy.
