Albanian ambassador status in the US:
The embassy in Washington has been following closely this week the concern of two Albanian-American families whose relatives live in areas deeply affected by Hurricane Maria!
We are extremely relieved that a student of Albanian origin in Dominici was contacted by his US family after three days of non-communification. The student is expected to be evacuated in the coming days along with a number of American citizens living in the state of Dominici, a state of less than 75 thousand people.
Another respected co-ordinator working in Puerto Rico has yet to be able to reach family members. Every possible way to get information has been used, but it hasn't succeeded.
I contacted the citizen personally on Tuesday evening with the concern of Hurricane Mary, who was expected to approach that night. He assured me that he lives and works in buildings protected by the hurricane. I remain faithful that he is out of danger for life but without any communication, from the island where electricity and mobile connections have already been cut 100 percent.
Over the course of these days, we have contacted the State Department for information. Trying to find communication opportunities is not the line.
