At least 7 people have been in police handcuffs in Metz, France, as justice accused those who created a help channel in late 2016 of introducing Albanian-born candidates for political asylum in the country.
Four men and a woman, aged 25 to 40, were indicted at Metz. Three of them were imprisoned, and the other two were released under judicial supervision.
In total, investigators estimate they have spent 200 people in a year earning 250,000. Clandestine individuals flew to and cared for the airports in France, Germany, and Belgium. For 2000, they gave them asylum requests. They were then sent to the Paris offices for the protection of refugees and citizens (Ofpra). Traffickers were also secured with false documents to support their files.
On 19 September, police investigators at the eastern border, assisted by their colleagues in Ocriest (The Central Office for the Prevention of Foreign Migration and Employment), arrested seven suspects in Metz. They all had a definite role in the organisation: driver, banker... the team was led by a forty-year-old.
