Critics have said the outcome of these elections has been predetermined, but the country appears to have gone a step further this year by publishing the results before Azerbaijani people vote.
The mistake came when an election commission chancely published results showing a victory for Ilham Aliyev, the country's old president, one day before the vote.
The medium “Meydan TV” released an image from a mobile app for the Azerbaijann Central Election Commission, which showed Aliyev had received 72.76 per cent of the vote compared to 7.4 per cent for the opposition candidate, Jamil Hasanli.
In past elections, there have been cases when ballot boxes were filled, but according to the manager of “TV Maydan” Emin Millie says that even in this election it will be the same scenario, The Independent” reported, broadcast Periscopi.
Alyev is running for his third term since his father's replacement as president in 2003.
The Organisation for Security and Co-operation in Europe said the 2008 presidential elections in Azerbaijan had a lack of competition and a non-competitive “media limitability”.
On the other hand, the Council of Europe has criticised “the lack of candidate challengers for president”./Periscopi/
