US made decision to enforce sanctions on Venezuela's president, Nicolas Maduro, following popular vote held Sunday in this country for constitutional assembly
The United States of America (SHBA) has taken the decision to enforce sanctions on Venezuela's president, Nicolas Maduro, following the popular vote held Sunday in this country for the constitutional Assembly for rewrite of the constitution, reports Anadolu Agency (AA).
In a written statement by the Foreign Asset Control Bureau (OFAC) near the US Treasury Department, it becomes known that sanctions against Maduros come as a result of his efforts to establish an authoritarian regime.
According to the statement, the vote held yesterday for the Constitutional Assembly aims to obtain the constitutional rights of the National Assembly.
This vote represents a fragment of constitutional and democratic order in Venezuela. Maduro's government realised the vote for the Constitutional Assembly even though the country's population and democratic governments in the world were opposed. The formation of the Constitutional Assembly comes after Maduro's several-year efforts to erode democracy and rule of law in Venezuela”, the statement said.
