U.S. President Donald Trump, today later in the day, is expected to explain the path forward to America's engagement in Afghanistan and South Asia”, the White House has announced.
In this announcement, the statement points out that Mr. Trump's speech will be delivered at the military base, Fort Mayer, near Washington and will be broadcast on television networks.
Three days ago President Trump met with his national security team at Kemp David's holiday to discuss the conflict in Afghanistan, where United States forces have been engaged for nearly 16 years.
After this meeting, the White House announced that Trump had been informed of a new “strategy”, but there were no decisions.
More than 2,500 members of Afghanistan's security forces have been killed in the first five months of this year.
Currently, there are nearly 8,400 American soldiers and nearly 5,000 troops from other NATO countries and partner states.
