Samsung's deputy leader is accused of bribery: Prosecutors Seek 12 Years in Prison for Him

Prosecutors in South Korea have recommended a 12-year sentence for Samsung's billionaire over his role in a domestic corruption scandal. At the final hearing in Monday's trial, where he was accused of being deputy chairman of Samsung's technological company, Lee Jae-yong, prosecutors recommended a 12-year sentence for his alleged role in a corruption scandal with former South Korean President, the “Deutsche Welle” broadcasts Periscopi.
Prosecutors called it “the main beneficiary of the” profits involved in the scandal.
Jane-yong 49-year-old Samsung has been in custody since February of this year and has been charged with his involvement in bribery and embezzlement.
Along with four other leaders, he is charged with offering $38m (32.2m euros) to a close friend of then President Park Gwen-hye.
The “defendants were closely linked to power and required personal benefits”, prosecutors said.
The charges could bring at least a five-year sentence if Lee was convicted. The court is expected to decide on the case this month.
But Lee has denied all charges read to him by the Court.
