Russia orders Arab Gulf states to restore ties with Qatar

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov urged Arab Gulf states to improve their ties with Qatar during his visit to the country today.
The United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Egypt have severed diplomatic relations and transport ties with Qatar on 5 June suspected of supporting terrorist groups.
“During a speech in Doha, Lavrov said the issue could be resolved by the Gulf Co-operation Council, which connects most Gulf states”, according to Russian media reports.
Also, during this week Lavrov has visited the United Arab Emirates and Kuwait over high-level talks that have included efforts to ease disputes.
Kuwait played a major role of mediator.
Turkish President Recep Tayip Erdogan, US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson and German Foreign Minister Sigmar Gabriel have held several visits to Qatar to help resolve the diplomatic crisis, Atsh conveys.
Qatar Foreign Minister Mohammed bin Abdel-Rahman praised Russia's efforts and said his country was in favour of finding a solution”, the state news agency TASS reported.
Next month, Lavrov is expected to travel to Saudi Arabia.
