In one of the last court hearings where the accused in the “Qumanova-Trium Law” has confessed Sami Ukshi, known in the opinion as “Sokoli”- his nickname since the 2001 conflict.
He in detail before the court has spoken from the day of his arrival in Kumanovo until the day of May 9th, when the armed clash broke out between Macedonia's special unit with the armed group in the Quarter of Braves- Kumanovo, news reports.
In the question of defense lawyer Artene Ademi Issaini how, why and why Sami Ukshi came to Macedonia, the last with answers:
There's too many reasons. The key, however, is that I have been here even in 2001 as host of KLA. The military was then demobilised as a result of the Ohrid Agreement, but it was never respected and respected so far. Normal conditions must be realised by 2004. The opposite happened, this country fanned nationalism. I think I'm a patriot and not a chauvinist. Another reason is that I have met some members of the group. I could have come back after 2004, but I left this as a sad reality”
Sami Ukshini Sokoli has flatly denied organization of the group.
No! If I had been an organizer, I'd be here. It could have been worse, maybe even better, but here (in court) we would have been”, it was socie.
He also talked about the first contact with the group, denying he was in Gushnica, writes News newspaper.
No! My first contact with the group was April 26. My friend, already felt, Xhafer Zymber contacted me and asked me to support him. After a pressure I agreed to support”.
Sokoli confessed to the moment she woke up from the shooting. About 5:00 in the morning, I woke up from the shooting. I'm out fast and I've seen that there's shooting from all sides, even from the air from the helicopter. I heard some cops say they were shot by snipers in the leg. Snipers never shoot in the leg. Often, police officers who have testified have said that they were ambushed. There's no ambush where someone sleeps”
He admits he had a green KLA emblem uniform. Sokoli claims the police have not warned them at all.
No! The Arsenal the unit used wasn't for control. I want to explain to the prosecutor that if there were an ambush, more police would have been killed. Victims may have been killed by Macedonia's police themselves. The police of this state have Masovically attacked. Based on the wounds, they were killed by the heavy calibre that we didn't possess. I've had my own personal tin”, Sokoli added further to his confession.
Refocusing that he personally is not an organizer, Sokoli recalls that the question “which was the purpose that lasted from May 3 to 9” cannot be answered, writes News.
I'm asking myself two years now. I wasn't an organizer. On May 7th-8th, I've seen Beg Rizyan and Mirsad Ndreczej told them that we risk ourselves and the neighborhood if we stay here. They have been very confident in their actions. The last three days there was fear, a sign we had to move. But those two were determined not to move. They didn't listen to me” Sokoli confirmed.
The phones that were presented in court had changed contact time, some had not been introduced. To me this is an assembly, like all this. You got me out like the first one. If I had been an organizer, I wasn't so naive.
Many of the protected witnesses (cops) have discovered that 3-4 days before they entered the neighborhood. Police have been able to do the operation otherwise. The police had a mission to liquidate us. ”
Who offered security to the group?
In the question of defense lawyer Artene Ademi Isaini: “You suggested Begu and Mirsad have been safe, since?
Sokoli answered: When I told you we should leave, they told me I was scared. They gave me a cigarette. They told me we were staying here until May 19th.
What was their purpose? - The lawyer continued with questions.
“The goal was the Ohrid Agreement, but not to carry out the attack, as police claim”
Lawyer: Could you shoot the cops? You said you saw them in the neighborhood the other day.
We didn't have that goal”, the norm Sokoli.
Lawyer: When did conflict start or do you try to stop it?
I didn't have an attack phone. When the police intervened, we were divided into two groups. Mirsad and Beg were in the other group. We've been trying to survive these days. Kallach Chiefs contacted O SBE. The police were never interested in giving up. It sees their purpose to eliminate us. I pity those who have lost their lives, both sides.
On one phone, the part is off when Mirsad says we first give up, and five minutes later, the other group. The surrender, it's 19. After we surrendered a piece of police wanted to kill us, others would protect us. Meanwhile, a policeman accidentally injured himself and a colleague. Then the fighting continued. We were tied up, kicked. They took me, Genc Sefaj and Valdet Zekaj to invite others to surrender. We are used as living shields. We were screaming, but there were shootings and s quite deaf. I heard Bang screaming UtchK. We were pushed to the ground, trampled through all the parts of our bodies, and then brought to Skopje. All this has happened in a state claiming to enter the EU and NATO”
Would it be the slightest consequences if your warning was accepted to surrender?- The defense attorney insists.
Noormal, nothing would happen! After we surrendered, five people were killed, then the next day three cops. The cops themselves are confused, normal, all that assault, man don't know what happened. It took me a while to get my film back”, Sokoli said.
Sokoli recalls that Mirsad was the head and Becky's deputy.
Sokoli was a humanist
In 2001, I have made a decision to hand over Macedonian prisoners to internationals and the same have not been mistreated. Human rights are respected under the Geneva Convention. If I had returned now at 16 on May 9, I would not have given up.
On May 9th, Valdet Zakaj in the meantime told me that a house that was burning up he had seen two seniors and asked if he could go and escape. I gave him permission, and Zekij saved both of them, Sokoli said.
Last year at “Trimaine Department” in Kumanovo, an armed group has clashed with Macedonia's security forces. From the case in question, eight police officers from the special unit were killed and four others were injured. Meanwhile, 10 members of the armed group lost their lives.
