How many people are in danger of dying from intense heat

The extreme weather conditions by the end of the century may be the cause of the death of 152 thousand Europeans per year, or 50 percent more than the actual numbers, unless anything is taken to soften the effects of climate change. So said the authors of the study in “magazine Lancet Planetary Health”.
The BBC reports that 99 percent of death cases are caused by heat waves, while it will be mostly hit by southern Europe. Scientists say such results are very disturbing, Kosovo Press broadcasts.
The number of dead as a result of extreme weather conditions will rise from 3,000 per year between 1981-2010 to 152,000 between 2071-2,100, unless anything is undertaken in terms of reducing emissions.
According to these estimates, extreme conditions by 2100 will affect two out of three Europeans, compared with one in 20 people who died as a result of extreme weather conditions at the beginning of this century.
The number of victims of flooding will also increase.
If global warming does not stop urgently and appropriate measures are not taken, by the end of the century around 350 million Europeans will be exposed to harmful extreme climate conditions”, said Giovanni Forcier, one of the authors of the study.
