More than 200 children have been killed this year in war-related Yemen, the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) announced on Monday, broadcast AA, Kosovo forwards.
“in 2017, 201 children were killed in Yemen, of which 152 boys and 49 girls”, has reported on the Twitter social network Meritxell Relano, the Frozen Representative of the U. NICEF in Yemen.
She said 347 Yemeni children have been disabled, including 113 girls, while 377 boys have been recruited in the ongoing fighting in Yemen this year.
The UN official's statements come days after the rebel group Husi accused the Saudi-led coalition of killing 12 civilians, including children, in an attack on the northern province of Sada.
Relano said four girls and two boys between two and 14 years of age were killed in the attack, but without holding any parties responsible for the attack.
At least 1,546 children have been killed and another 2,450 have been injured during the conflict, which lasts for three years in Yemen, according to U figures. NICEF published in March.
Yemen has been involved in civil war since 2014, when the rebels of Hus Movement took over most of the country, including the capital Sana.
The conflict escalated when Saudi Arabia and its Arab allies launched a massive air campaign in 2015 aimed at overturning the rebels ' military positions and supporting the Yemeni government.
According to the International Committee of the Red Cross, over three million people have fled their homes since the beginning of the conflict and more than 20 million across the country need humanitarian aid.
