Dutch authorities require the restoration of the visa regime for Albanian citizens, thus conditioning their movement in the Schengen space.
Following growing criminal problems from Albanian gangs in the Netherlands, Dutch Police in co-operation with the Dutch Prosecutor have advised the government to restore visas for all Albanian citizens in the Schengen area.
This confirms an internal memo that describes the report in question, which is headed for the government's advice, which requires precisely the restoration of the visa regime.
Such a request has been provided exclusively by ABC News.
Albanian criminals in the Netherlands have been greatly empowered in recent years, as they operate mainly in drug trafficking, money laundering and human trafficking. For Dutch Police and Prosecutors, the best way to fight this phenomenon is to restore the obligation for visa equipment so that Albanian citizens can no longer enter the Schengen area and the Netherlands.
Amsterdam police have confirmed the existence of this report for ABC News and said police have seen a strong empowerment of criminal elements in the Netherlands. The number of suspects for criminal acts of Albanian nationality over a year has doubled, thus pushing for tougher measures.
It will be the government in the Netherlands that will decide on such a move, which so far is studying the report. The interior minister's office prefers to react after the minister has made his decision. At least some political parties have expressed in the past the pro-convincing austerity measures for Albanians, and thus returning visas may be a real option for the Netherlands. / A BC News
