According to the British newspaper The Guardian, millions of eggs have been found to contain high levels of a toxic insecticide, whose use is prohibited in food products for human consumption.
As a result, a considerable number of eggs have been attracted by shops and warehouses in Belgium, the Netherlands, and Germany, and even about 180 farm - raising chickens were shut down in the Netherlands at the order of the authorities.
Authorities have launched a criminal investigation to find out as much about the problem as possible. Just this week about one million eggs destined for the German market were returned to the Netherlands.
According to the analysis conducted, the eggs contained high levels of the fironal insecticide, a common ingredient in veterinary products for the elimination of fleas and lice, but forbidden to be used in birds or animals, which are then destined for human food. This insecticide can damage liver, thyroid glands, and kidneys if absorbed by the human body in large quantities over time.
But there is still no guarantee that these eggs have spread to other European countries.
