Berlin will not automatically side with the US if it faces an armed conflict with North Korea, German Chancellor Angela Merkel has said today.
Merkel believes the North Korean crisis cannot be solved through military means, broadcasts Express.
The German Chancellor made these comments today during a “Deutschland Live”, which was organised by the National newspaper “Handelsblatt”, where the ongoing North Korean crisis was one of the main topics.
Asked about any possible conflict between Washington and Pennyan, Merkel has said Germany would not necessarily back the US.
No, not automatically. I see no military solution for the North Korean crisis. I think it's wrong,” said Merkel.
The German leader has called for peaceful resolution to tensions, insisting that diplomatic means have not been exhausted overall.
Merkel has dismissed any military option for North Korea, while Washington and Peniani continue engaged in verbal warfare.
