Major import of goods from Serbia remains disturbing

According to an AKS report, Kosovo imports from Ceft countries for a month (July) reached 76.7m Euro or 27.9% of total imports.

What continues to remain disturbing is the great import of goods from Serbia.

Although, there have been several awareness campaigns for the consumption of Kosovo products rather than Serbia's, the percentage remains high.

It is 14.1 per cent import per month that Kosovo has accepted from Serbia.

If we compare with other CEFTA countries, Serbia remains the largest importer, then Macedonia comes with 5.1%, Albania with 4.9% and Bosnia and Herzegovina with 3.0 percent, the indexonline writes.

“Meanwhile, imports from CEFTA countries in July 2017 reached 76.7m, or (27.9%) of total imports, with an increase of (24.5%). The highest share countries for import were: Serbia (14.1%), Macedonia (5.1%), Albania (4.9%) and B&H (3.0%)” are said in this report.

Even in Kosovo's exports, Serbia part of CEFTA, remains one of the main partners with 21.5%, then Albania 12..8%, Macedonia (11.5%), Montenegro (6.3%).

Exporting goods in July 2017 was worth $3.3m, while importing $275.3m is an increase of (26.2%) for export and (14.3%) for import compared to the same period in 2016.

Kosovo has become part of the Central European Free Trade Agreement (CEFTA) in 2007.

Economy officials call Kosovo's membership failure in this agreement, as they say Kosovo has not benefited as anticipated.

Meanwhile, businesses have complained many times about poor influence on their companies, as they increase costs and transport costs.
