Samet Imish from the village of Rezhazi of Elez Khan was arrested on December 1, 2015, on charges of inciting terrorism. He was imprisoned for seven months in the town of Brescia in Italy after threatening Pope Francis.
The event was not the only Kosovar who was arrested December 2015 for the same indictment. His two family members, Brother Ismail Imish and grandson Mergim Imish, had also ended up in handcuffs from shares of the Italian Police and the Kosovo Police.
Imish's two family members had been arrested in Brescia until he himself was arrested in Kosovo.
A year and a half after the arrest and maintenance of seven months, Imish says he has repented and wants to apologise to Pope Francis.
I have a dream: to embrace Pope Francis and apologize: my brother and I never thought of hurting him. During these months of imprisonment, I lost my father and thought so much. If the Pope wanted to see me for just one minute, and if I were given special permission to travel to Rome, of course at my own expense, I'd like to embrace that”, Imish said today, Brescia newspaper reports. Corriere.
Samet Imish had lived full of 16 years in Italy, but the authorities there for reasons still unknown, three years earlier had interrupted his residence by returning him to Kosovo.
Even after his return, he has visited his family there, where he has questioned the Italian authorities.
He had said that “ky Pope would be the last”, referring to Pope Francis. These words had been heard by Italian police in the telephone tapes of Imish and his group.
Now, Samet Imish lives in Kosovo, where she works.
