In May, the Interpol Executive Committee has decided on the Kosovo app, which will be considered by the General Assembly of this institution. Albanian Medici, senior adviser to the Minister of Internal Affairs, says there is a huge task being done in terms of lobbiing in order to have a positive result.
Medici stressed that Kosovo has all the capacity needed to be part of this organisation.
While Plator Avdiu, researcher at the Kosovar Centre for Security Studies, stresses that Serbia is lobbiing too hard to undermine Kosovo's membership in this credital international institution. Kosovo police communicate with INTERPOL through office for INTERPOL inside UNMIK.
Membership in this organisation also greatly helps Kosovo in the fight against terrorism, but other INTERPOL member states have more direct and faster communication with Kosovo institutions. Even in 2015 Kosovo had applied for research in INTERPOL, but has not resulted positively. The decision in Beijing, China, is expected at 26 September to 29 September.
