Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs Enver Hoxhaj has rejected resolving the compromise proposed by his Serbian counterpart, Ivica Dacic, for dividing what belongs to Serbs and Albanians in Kosovo, in order to normalise relations and avoid conflict. Hoxhaj has rejected the idea through one [...]
Hoxhaj has dismissed the idea through a tweeting post, saying Kosovo is a multi-ethnic democratic country with internationally recognised borders that will stay in such a way.
He has said Serbia's idea is dangerous and unacceptable.
Otherwise, Daciq in an article written in the Serbian newspaper “Vecernje Novosti” suggests that to avoid the upcoming conflict on Kosovo, what belongs to Serbs and Albanians in Kosovo must be divided.
However, he has not explained what this means in practice.
Daciq seeks the creation of an association of Serb municipalities in southern Kosovo, similar to what should be created in the north.
To ensure the security of the Serbian Orthodox churches in Kosovo, Daciq proposed the creation of subx0 monastic independent co-operation”, which would have some degree of territorial autonomy. He proposed to have “financial compensation for private and state-owned property seized”.
Dacic has stressed that “each needs a lasting solution to the Serbian-Albanian conflict and can only be reached by an agreement between Serbs and Albanians, in which each will receive and lose something”.
